„Valleys of Prehistory (fr. Vallées de Préhistoire)” Symposium 20-24 June 2022.
Between June 20-24, 2022 interdisciplinary international symposium “Valleys of Prehistory” (French “Vallées de Préhistoire”) was orginized in the area of Verdon Regional Natural Park (Provence, France). Among others, prehistoric chocolate flint mine in Poręba Dzierżna 24 has been presented.
During the Symposium, five European research teams from France, Portugal, Germany and Poland, composed mostly of archeologists, geologists and paleonthologists, presented the results of their scientific achievements, concentrated around the studied micro-regions located in the valleys.
Each team had one day for a comprehensive presentation of their interdisciplinary scientific achievements in the area of one of the valleys. Polish research team presented Udorka Valley, located in the middle part of Cracow-Częstochowa upland. “Udorka Valley” team included: PhD Maciej T. Krajcarz, prof. ING PAN (ING PAN, Warsaw), PhD Magdalena Krajcarz, PhD Magdalena Sudoł-Procyk, PhD Kamil Adamczak, MA Martyna Wiejacka, MA Magdalena Malak, BA Hubert Binnebesel (Institute of Archeology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń), PhD. Apart from the Udorka Valley, the following sites were presented: Jabron Valley and Somme Valley (France), Côa Valley (Portugal), and the Ach Valley (Germany). The idea behind the conference was to gather and exchange experiences of researchers from all over Europe who conducted interdisciplinary research on prehistoric settlements in valleys, also as part of multi-annual research programs. The symposium, in addition to obvious scientific aspects, was supposed to promote the regional culture and natural heritage on the international area, as well as to strenghten research cooperation at the European level.
