On October 8-10, the First National Archaeometric Conference was held in Igołomia, presenting the results of interdisciplinary analyzes of archaeological finds conducted by archaeologists in cooperation with biologists, geographers, geologists and chemists, using the most modern research equipment. The conference was attended by a PhD student of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, M.Sc. Sara Mandera, who, on behalf of herself and the co-authors of the speech (Dr. Michael Brandl, Dr. Magdalena Sudoł-Procyk, Dr. M.T. Krajcarz), talked about research on the origin of silica raw materials using petrographic and geochemical methods, based on the case of chocolate flint.

The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Archeology of the Jagiellonian University, the Center for the Archeology of Mountains and Highlands of the IAE PAN, the Faculty of Archeology of the Adam Mickiewicz University, the Institute of Archeology of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the National Center for Nuclear Research, the Faculty of Archeology of the University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Warsaw, with financial support from the Mare Nostrum Lab Flagship Program as part of the Strategic Program for Excellence in Jagiellonian University and the patronage of the E-RIHS.pl Consortium.
