17. SKAM Lithic Workshop

2024-05-08

On April 24-26, 2024, the 17th SKAM Lithic Workshop were held in the Archaeological Reserve in Krzemionki Opatowskie, under the slogan "New perspectives in the lithic studies". This international event was attended by researchers and representatives of institutions from Poland, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic and France.

Our team in Krzemionki was represented by a group of researchers: Dr. Magdalena Sudoł-Procyk, Magdalena Malak, M.A., M.Eng. Sara Mandera, Hubert Binnebesel, MA and Kacper Baranowski, who presented topics related to the current project "Chocolate flint in Kraków-Częstochowa Upland...", as well as doctoral and master's theses

As part of this year's SKAM, as every year, there was also a presentation of flint inventories from the participants' recent field research and silica raw materials, including chocolate flint from the Świętokrzyskie Mountains region and 'our' flint from the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. It was a very good lesson in the exchange of knowledge and experiences not only for students, but also for experienced researchers.

17th SKAM Lithic Workshop, "New perspectives in the lithic studies" is an international event organized by Faculty of Archeology of the University of Warsaw, Institute of Archeology of the University of Wrocław and State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw.
